BIO

Amy Hastanan, L.Ac, LMT, is a dually licensed Acupuncturist and Massage Therapist in the state of Hawai'i, with over 18 years of experience in the field of complimentary and alternative medicine (CAM). She has held licensure and practice in New York, Oregon, Utah, and Hawai’i. O’ahu is now home.

MASSAGE. Amy began her study of massage in Thailand (2005) with Traditional Thai Bodywork on the island of Koh Tao in the Surat Thani province. Traveling to Asia, Amy cultivated a deep appreciation for the Eastern Healing Arts. Amy completed Occupational Studies of Massage Therapy at the Swedish Institute, New York (2008), the oldest continuously operating massage therapy institution in the United States. With well over 1000+ hours of training, Amy is well versed in anatomy, physiology, neurology, kinesiology, pathology, first aid, CPR, OSHA and infectious control procedures. She has spent a majority of her career working alongside chiropractors and physical therapists, which has guided her focus of treatment towards acute and chronic pain, post-surgery and injury. Amy's specialty is rehabilitation with a full body approach.

ACUPUNCTURE. Trained in TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Amy incorporates acupuncture and herbology. Amy attended the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM), NYC (2010) and went on to complete her Master's Degree at the Institute for Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ICAOM), Honolulu, Hawai'i (2015). Amy continues to enhance her knowledge in Orthopedic-style Acupuncture, also known as Motor Point Acupuncture, specializing in pain management. Amy assists clients’ most effectively with regular therapy to reduce discomfort, create balance and improve function, so that the body’s limitations may not be a hindrance to everyday life and activities. Amy excels at understanding and treating compensation patterns, postural malalignments, and overuse syndromes.

Amy blends western anatomical knowledge with eastern meridian system philosophy to create individualized treatments; which always include channel palpation, can be stand alone acupuncture, massage, or a combination of both. Amy is a huge proponent of Fire Cupping and usually blends that into 90% of sessions.

INSTRUCTOR of BAREFOOT BODYWORK. Amy has retired from teaching Sarga Bodywork® as of 2024 to the general public of LMTs’ and is currently focusing on her team of practitioners at The Mānoa House.

SPA CONSULTANT & RETREAT LEADER. Amy previously organized immersion retreats for Sarga Bodywork trainings on the mainland, throughout the west coast, four-corner and area into Mexico. Amy Spa has been hired as a Spa Consultant and has worked with prestigious luxury spa’s such as Sensei Lanai, a Four Seasons Resort.

NCBTMB Board Certification is the highest voluntary credential attainable in the massage therapy and bodywork profession with a distinct level of achievement beyond entry-level licensure.
